The transformation of an empty lot into a naturalistic wetland can now be seen live online from Huntington Beach.
The restoration of Magnolia marsh, being paid for with $3.3 million in federal stimulus funds, will create meandering water channels lined with native plants and will open the wetland area to tidal flow from the ocean.
The 41-acre restoration site was one of 50 smiliar projects on the nation’s coastlines chosen by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The 50 projects will cost a total of $167 million in stimulus dollars.
