The environmental group CalPIRG is once again offering a tour of UC Irvine’s student center — loaded with “green” features that save energy and reduce reliance on natural resources.
Among the features are fly-ash concrete, carpet low in volatile organic compounds, reflective roofing, waterless urinals, recycled water for irrigation, and solar panels.
Meet members of CalPIRG’s Global Warming Solutions Campaign outside the student center at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4.
The group provided these directions:
University of California, Irvine, Visitor Center of the Student Center, on the first floor. Enter campus via Campus Drive. Turn right on East Peltason Drive. Turn right on Pereira Drive. Stay right on Pereira Drive. Short-term parking is available at the Social Science Parking Structure on the right side of Pereira Drive or in Lot 2 along the left side of Pereira Drive. Walk down Periera Drive and turn left up the stairs to Anteater Plaza and Ring Road. Turn right on Ring Road. Continue on Ring Road pass Langson Library. Student center will on the left.
